Jace's New Bedroom!

We have spent the last couple weeks getting together a new bedroom for Jace.  He is defintley not a baby anymore.  He amazes us evryday with what he can now do adn say.  It was bittersweet creating a new big boy room for him.  He loves being in there though, and will still give us snuggles so I guess he is still a baby to us!
We spent lots of time talking to him about his new room and playign in it, hoping that would make the transition easier.

Jace playing with his airplane before trying out the new bed.

First night was a success!  We figured we would have to keep going in and picking a sleeping boy off the floor to put put in bed, but it never happened!

30 seconds of crying at the door then he crawled right into bed!

Second night was even better than the first!

Look at all the room!  It took two days to get him into his bed for his naps though, but all in all, a great success!  Curt and I are so proud of this little boy!

Hockey/Baseball themed room, with lots of photos of the three of us!

Curt made this cute little hockey chair for Jace.  Complete with mini sticks for arms!

We bought life size stickers of a hockey player and baseball player.

This is a good shot of what the color of the walls are.  I love his baseball glove cahir!  He does too!  He loves reading in it!

I framed 8x10 pictures to put on either side of the window.

The baseball player sticker complete with Jace's night light!!!  It lookjs so cool at night when the ball is lit up!

Curt mounted the camera above the closet so we can watch our little man!

Last Stop...Penticton

Last post of our holidays... :(
On our way back from Vancouver, we stopped in Penticton for a night.  Curt played Junior hockey there and he always tells me how much he wants to go back and visit the people he stayed with.  (Who also happen to be related to him).  We really wish we would have stayed longer, it was a short visit but we had a lot of fun, and they were soooo welcoming to Jace and I.  I got to meet Greg, BettyAnn and Tyler (Travis was away in Alberta) and Jace had an absolute blast playing with all three of them!

Shortly after we got to Penticiton, it was off to the beach to splash in the lake with Greg!

Jace having an absolute ball!

Jace always ran away after getting splashed and then ran right back for more!  I even got soaked at one point!  But I got even! :)

The whole crew

Jace was exhausted after the lake.  We just wrapped a towel around him, threw him in the carseat and he was out before we had even pulled away!

Jace trying on an Oilers jacket that Greg had.

It was such a great way to end the trip.  I know that Curt was thrilled to get the chance to go back adn catch up!

Food!

No pictures on this post...

One of my absolute favorite things about going on a holiday is the food!  I LOVE going to all kinds of new restaurants that we don't have in Red Deer.  I also watch the Food Network all the time and we tried to find some of the places that are featured in my three favorite shows on that network.  You Gotta Eat Here, Eat St. and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  Here are some of the highlights of our trip with regards to food...

In Seattle we had Olive Garden and P.F. Chang's for our Anniversary Supper.

We had AMAZING fresh fish and chips right on the beach in White Rock, Granville Island and Steveston.

We found a good food truck downtown called Kaboom Box for fish and chips.

We ate a variety of fun things at Granville Market - panini's, fish and chips, gelato, ice cream, cookies, teas, coffees, salad rolls...all so good.

Today we went to the Waldorf hotel parking lot where they had about 10 food trucks set up.  We each had something different, from pulled beer braised chicken, fresh tacos, and mexican perogies.

We ate at a restaurant that was featured on You Gotta Eat Here for their pizza.  It was awesome!

A place called Margaritas had the best chicken tacos I have ever had!

Gma, Jace and I ate at 3 different crepe places.  Lots of fresh fruit and nutella in those crepes!

All in all, a very good trip in the eating department!  One of my favorite things about holidays!

Random Pics...

Here are some pictures from the last two days.  In the morning we are headed off to Penticton to visit the people Curt stayed with when he played Junior hockey there.  Then Tuesday morning we are headed home.  This has been a wonderful, much needed holiday for our family.  Once we get home, it will be back to normal, back to school and back to trying to entertain this little man in Red Deer! Thanks for the visit Gma and Gpa!  Gma is heading back to Alberta with us to do some visiting, so Jace will still be able to entertain her some more!

Playing peek a boo in Gma's closet!

Our little Rock Star!

Gpa and Jace hard at work!

After supper tonight, Gpa took Jace for a long walk so the three of us could clean and pack for the trip tomorrow.  They found some salsa dancers and Jace was a dancing machine in his stroller!

Walk Around Vancouver

We have been in Vancouver for a little more than two weeks and we have tried to go for a long walk every night after supper.  Tonight I took my camera and these are some of the things we do...

View of the water as we walk over the bridge to downtown Vancouver.

Stopping at the park for a little play time.

This is one of the last times that we saw his brand new Nike hat... we lost 2 hats on this trip, this one was only a few days old... :(

Going down the slide head first is way more fun!

Having a swing with Gma.

LOVE these two guys!

A rare family photo!

Curt working on his speed walking form.

Gma put her fingers in her mouth and whistled.  Jace tried so hard to copy her!

One last view from the aquabus as we headed back to Granville Island.

Kids Say The Funniest Things...

Jace has said quite a few funny things on our summer holiday.  Some he has come up with on his own and soome he has repeated from various people.  Here are just a few...

After he sneezed he said "Bless You"

"Coffee at Starbucks" - Think I have gone a few times this trip, lol.

"Shopping in the States" - While Judy, Jace and I shopped in Bellingham one day while the guys golfed down there.

"Sexy Mommy" - Repeated this one many times after Gma and Curt told him too, lol.

"MMMMM Delicious" - This has been repeated many many many times while he has been eating.  Usually it follows after he takes a bite of a cookie, ice cream or other treat!

"Shut the door Grandpa" - Telling Gpa he wanted the screen door shut.

"Aquabus" - Repeated this many times while we were on the Aquabus yesterday.  He's a smart cookie, we didn't even tell him to say this one, he must have heard us talking about it!

When we passed a 7 11 he said "MMM chips" then the next place was a restaurant and he said "MMM fries!"  He knows the difference!

He also lets us know when he sees a airplane, truck, garbage truck, helicopter or car.  He starts shouting for them by name!

There are alot of umbrellas around Vancouver.  When he says it it sounds like " Um-brell-la-la-la"

There has also been a substantial amount of gibberish when he is excited.  He talks so fast and we have no idea what he is trying to say, but it sure is fun trying to figure it out!

Kitsilano Beach

With the weather being so nice here, we decided to go to the beach. When we got there we noticed that the tide was way out. It was a long walk to actually get to the water. But once Jace got to the water he loved it!

This was done where water usually would be found.

Playing in the sand with dad.

There were so many sea shells for Jace to play with. He thought they were pretty "cool".

Jace loved when the waves would break near him.

Mommy holding on tight while in the water.

 Such a nice place!

More sea shells to investigate.... We will definately
be making another trip here in the future. Jace had a blast!
